Writing Christmas letters to relatives and friends can be a daunting task for many people. Most often than not, these letters end up becoming a string of meaningless generic messages on a holiday card. If this scenario rings true for you, it’s about time you start writing your first meaningful Christmas letter that loved ones can look forward to getting every year.
Tip #1: Tuck-in a personalized letter inside your “generic” Christmas card. You probably send over 250 greeting cards during this time and this is the point where your greeting becomes just like everyone else’s. Keep your friends and relatives updated about the family (what everyone is doing…etc.) but make it short and sweet.
Tip #2: Focus on THEM and not YOU. We know you’re excited to share updates about your life but think about who you are writing to. What would make them smile? Put yourself in their position and ask yourself, what do I want to hear from a friend or family member?
Tip #3: End your note with a sincere Christmas wish. Reflect on your sincerest most personal wish this Christmas and write everything down. This exercise will make for a sincere wish at the end of your letter. Yes, it can sound ‘cheesy’ but Christmas is the perfect time to be sentimental.
