The economy is still on recovery mode but with the holidays fast approaching, people just can’t help but overspend their hard earned money. You don’t have or need to since there are many ways you can celebrate Christmas without breaking the bank! Seems like an impossible task for many but definitely worth a try.

Suggestion #1: Give meaningful but less expensive gifts. Giving gifts doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive to be meaningful. Get a clue from your everyday interaction with a loved one. Let’s say, your husband has been too stressed at work and you know he needs a bit of R&R. What do you do? You don’t just jump and buy two tickets to an exotic island getaway! You could book an hour of massage at your local spa or you could do the massage yourself. For those who are on long distance relationships, send some KindNotes and put a smile on his or her face.

Suggestion #2: Gift loved one(s) with TIME. It’s easier said than done but time is really of the essence. It’s something no amount of money can equal to. Find ways to spend more time (quality time that is) with the people that matter. It can be a simple walk in the park or a family dinner, anything. People already possess too many things and it could be that what they need is your TIME.  Spend some time writing your thoughts on KindNotes and see your loved one’s face brighten up. It’s the simple things that matter.

Suggestion #3: Get Creative. Don’t be afraid of being called stingy just because you didn’t buy something expensive. Gifts are not limited to just buying stuff. If you know your family and friends well enough, it’s time to get your thinking hat going and start getting creative. Think of ways to help a neighbor, family or friend. Believe me, there are tons you could do for people and it doesn’t have to be expensive.

This season, re-think your strategy of giving gifts and hopefully find the true meaning of celebrating Christmas. Enjoy the holidays!

Writing Christmas letters to relatives and friends can be a daunting task for many people. Most often than not, these letters end up becoming a string of meaningless generic messages on a holiday card. If this scenario rings true for you, it’s about time you start writing your first meaningful Christmas letter that loved ones can look forward to getting every year.

Tip #1: Tuck-in a personalized letter inside your “generic” Christmas card. You probably send over 250 greeting cards during this time and this is the point where your greeting becomes just like everyone else’s. What you can do is write a short, straight to the point personalized note (Here at KindNotes, we have an amazing selection of stationery that you can customize to your liking!) and place it inside the card. Keep your friends and relatives updated about the family (what everyone is doing…etc.) but make it short and sweet.

Tip #2: Focus on THEM and not YOU. We know you’re excited to share updates about your life but think about who you are writing to. What would make them smile? Put yourself in their position and ask yourself, what do I want to hear from a friend or family member?

Tip #3: End your note with a sincere Christmas wish. Reflect on your sincerest most personal wish this Christmas and write everything down. This exercise will make for a sincere wish at the end of your letter. Yes, it can sound ‘cheesy’ but Christmas is the perfect time to be sentimental.

Follow these tips and pretty soon, you will find yourself reading some replies to your letter!
